Despite reports to the contrary, Chiswick resident Vanessa Redgrave will be voting for local Liberal Democrat candidate Gareth Hartwell in next Thursday's General Election.
After voting for him in 1997, The Independent recently incorrectly implied that she was switching her vote to a left-wing candidate.
She remains loyal to the Lib Dems, saying in a letter to The Independent:
"I will again vote Liberal Democrat in this election, because their local candidate has assured me of his wholehearted support for the 1951 Convention on the right of asylum, and for a first-time decent increase for pensioners."
Gareth was pleased with the celebrity endorsement saying -
"I am delighted that she is continuing to support us because of our policies on human rights and pensions. As a long-time supporter of Amnesty International and campaigner for a fair deal for pensioners, these issues are very important to me."
