The Liberal Democrats have picked local campaigner Mike Wilson to contest the Hounslow South by-election. The 44-year-old sports retail manager wants to see more openness and honesty in the borough's politics. A marathon runner and member of the Thames Valley Harriers, Mike also wants to see better recreational facilities for young people.
Mike said:
"Whether it's 'Tony's cronies' or council chamber stitch-ups, ordinary people don't get their say. People feel politicians are out of touch and councils are too 'top down' in the way they are run.
"I'm worried about the disengagement of young people politically and socially. This is at least partly caused by a lack of recreational and other facilities for them."
