LETTER: Chiswick Lodge set for axe

Dear Sir/ Madam

Along with many local residents I was dismayed by last week's news that the axe may soon fall on Chiswick Lodge.

Supporters of the lodge have campaigned long and hard for the protection of a home rooted in its local community, providing high quality, dedicated care to its residents.

When more residential and nursing places are required in the borough it makes no sense to be closing existing facilities and move elderly people who simply need a stable home to live in. It is time for the Primary Care Trust to start listening to local residents overwhelming calls for the Lodge to stay open, rather than hiding behind a smoke screen of excuses.
