Cllr Dakers and Hounslow Lib Dems are backing the summer door knockers campaign
Cllr Andrew Dakers, Leader of Hounslow Liberal Democrats, has backed a campaign by Trading Standards and The Federation of Master Builders to warn against rogue builders. A 'Scambusters' leaflet with advice on spotting rogue builders and a sticker to put in the window to warn them off can be requested at http://www.findabuilder.co.uk/ideas/doorknockers/index.asp
Cllr Dakers said:
"Most builders are totally honest, but no reliable builder would knock on someone's door and claim their roof or driveway needed repair.
"Rogue builders rob people of £1.36 billion pounds each year. They can be very convincing, but at heart they are the crooks, preying on the vulnerable."
