Munira Wilson, Prospective Lib Dem MP for the Feltham & Heston constituency, with Cllr John Howliston and Jin Jhooti, on the Feltham Arena site
Munira Wilson, Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Feltham & Heston, has sent an open letter to Cllr Mark Bowen demanding answers on why he has done so little to prevent the dereliction of the Feltham Arena site.
Following concerns raised by local residents, Munira Wilson and other local Liberal Democrat campaigners recently visited the site. They were shocked to find total neglect and no progress in developing the site, following the approval of two planning applications since 2007, which promised new football pitches and a clubhouse.
Munira Wilson's letter asks why Cllr Bowen has done nothing to monitor and regulate the waste that has been dumped on the site. It says, "Local people want to know why, as a councillor for the ward where the site is located, and as Deputy Leader of the Council, you have taken no action to monitor and challenge activity on this precious site."
Liberal Democrats are calling for an inquiry into the state of the site. Munira Wilson said, "It is an absolute scandal that a site that was dedicated to the people of Feltham as a recreational area has been used as a waste dumping ground. We have no idea whether some of that waste may be contaminated and what damage it is doing. An urgent inquiry is needed."
