London will be a less safe place from tomorrow – Stephen Knight

January 8, 2014 4:29 PM

Stephen Knight AM, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member and member of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, commenting ahead of tomorrow's closure of 10 fire stations said:

"London will be a less safe place from tomorrow. Hundreds of thousands of people will now face significantly increased response times for fires and other incidents.

"It is the Mayor of London who has driven through the plans to close one in ten of London's fire stations. Time and time again he has ignored and then overruled the majority of members of the London Fire Authority and the London Assembly.

"If the Mayor merely froze his tax precept not one fire station closure would have been necessary."
