Mayor’s budget fails to help young people or address London’s housing crisis – Stephen Knight

Stephen Knight AM, Liberal Democrat London Assembly budget spokesperson, commenting on the Mayor's budget which has now been adopted despite opposition from a majority of London Assembly Members said:

"The Mayor is on record as saying his key priorities were for young people and affordable housing, yet the Mayor's budget totally fails to match his rhetoric.

"Young people have been let down by the failure of the Mayor to commit more resources to apprenticeships. When London is lagging behind the rest of the country in apprenticeships this is an appalling decision.

"The Mayor also had the option available to him to devote more resources for affordable housing, yet again the Mayor's words and actions are a world apart."

"The Mayor has delivered a pitiful cut in the council tax precept. The price of his actions is that he has let down young Londoners and the hundreds of thousands of families being hit by London's housing crisis."
